This particular version of kennel decking is made from high density plastic, and it is constructed so that it will drain easily and allow all liquids to pass straight through, plus it is very easy to clean and to keep clean and hygienic as well.
The surface is nowhere near as hard as concrete, for example, and it also does much better when exposed to extremes of temperature–not getting too hot during summer, and not holding the cold in like cement does during winter. Being made from plastic means that it doesn’t absorb and hold moisture the same way concrete does so you don’t have the problem of your dog being exposed to a lot of dampness during winter or rainy months. If your dog is getting older, or has any sort of joint problem the worst thing for them is to rest on a damp surface, especially during winter.
It is great to use in kennels, even with young pups as the surface is non-slip and skid resistant. One of the things I like about kennel decking is that it raises the dog up off the ground, which instantly is not only more healthy for the dog, but also provides more comfort, and less danger of infection.
